“Positive Thinking” becomes harmful when you deny the existence of problems or challenges, but focusing on just the problem, solution, or goal isn’t the answer either.

Insisting to yourself that there’s no problem or using positive affirmations (by themselves) to deny where you’re truly at often doesn’t work and can actually be detrimental to your progress and success because if it doesn’t feel authentic deep-down, you’re-at best-numbing yourself out to your current truths. What you really want to do is acknowledge where you’re at, solutions to move you forward, your goals, and positive mindsets around all of that – then let it all go and move forward, trusting the process.
