Releasing is a meditative process of letting go: letting go of emotions like anger, sadness, and fear, letting go of the past, and letting go of stories and limiting beliefs that are holding you back in life.

The benefits of releasing emotions and mental garbage are almost endless, and today I want to share the Top 10 benefits of learning to let go with you. If the idea of releasing is brand new to you, this video will especially help you.

The Top Benefits of Releasing Emotions (in no particular order):

1. Create Financial Freedom & Wealth…Regardless of the Economy

Successful businessman and business coach Dan Peña, who lives in his own castle and is known as the “50 Billion Dollar Man” says you have two types of bank accounts: Your financial bank account, and your emotional bank account, and that without having your emotional bank account in order, you’ll never get your financial bank account where you want it to be.

I couldn’t agree more, and this is true whether you just want a little more financial freedom or you want to be a billionaire like Peña.

If you took all of the money and other financial assets, businesses, and networking contacts away from people like Peña, Virgin founder (and owner of his own island) Richard Branson, Tesla’s Elon Musk, or investor Mark Cuban (owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks), it wouldn’t take them very long to start creating success for themselves again. Yes, they are all very bright and experienced, but a big part of what separates people like them from so many others who work just as hard or harder than them, and are just as intelligent if not moreso than them is their emotional bank account being solid.

Releasing is all about your emotional bank account. When you let go of your emotional, belief, and thought bs and you allow and welcome (another piece of this same meditative work) more empowering emotions and beliefs, you become more focused, energized and productive, proactive, resourceful and creative, and resilient. Your mind is much more attuned to finding ways to succeed and picking up on tons of things you may otherwise miss than when you’re looking through a lense of mental and emotional clutter.

And you can succeed regardless of how well the economy happens to be doing if your mind, emotions, and beliefs are strong. People do it all the time. Thinking otherwise is just victim mentality.

2. Succeed in Extremely Competitive Fields

This is much like everything we just talked about with financial success. Some say that you have to get lucky to succeed in highly competitive fields like acting and the entertainment industry in general, but you make your own luck in life. The emotional strength and empowerment that letting go gives you will allow you to put yourself in far more positions and situations to get “lucky.” And you’ll just be better in general, so that’s why better success in any area you’re working on is one of the benefits of releasing emotions.

  1. Build Confidence & Self-Esteem

Your natural state is actually a powerfully confident one. The real you is confident – you just have layers of bs and ego-defense mechanisms on top of it.

Releasing is learning to truly let that all go and get to the most authentic, confident version of yourself.

  1. Attract the Relationships You Really Want and Improve Existing Ones

Confidence is attractive, bottom line. So is emotional stability, awareness, and availability. Releasing helps you build confidence, emotional awareness and intelligence, and be able to connect with people emotionally and authentically.

Improving your relationships is another one of the benefits of releasing emotions because so much of the conflict people have is really caused by acting out of insecurities and being defensive. When you learn to identify and let go of that, you can still maintain healthy boundaries and self respect but communicate and resolve issues from an emotionally grounded, loving place.

Releasing also gets you out of your head and into the moment so you can be more emotionally connected and present with people. This can really transform relationships with friends, family, lovers alike. And in business as well.

And unlike meditation, a lot of releasing can be done in the moment, with your eyes open, even while interacting with people.

  1. Transform the Stress in Your Life, and Perform Better Under Pressure

As psychologist Kelly McGonigal talked about in her TED Talk, your relationship to stress (your honest perspective and how you truly feel about it) is far more determinative of its impact on you than how much stress you go through. Releasing can help you shift your relationship with stress to one where you actually enjoy it (like enjoying the burn of the stress on your muscles when you work out) and just handle it a lot easier, so you can handle pressure better.

  1. Learn how to Trust Yourself and Stop Overanalyzing and Hesitating

Overanalysis and hesitation comes from not trusting yourself enough. All your doubts about yourself and your fears of failing and other bad outcomes can be released on so that you feel more solid in yourself and your decisions (huge and tiny), you make decisions much more quickly, and you’re secure in the fact that you can handle and thrive from whatever happens.

  1. Overcome Failure, Life Challenges & Trauma, and Let Go of the Past

This is one of the biggest benefits of releasing emotions. Absolutely huge, and something I help clients do all the time. You can tell yourself things like “I don’t care,” and “Failing was ok – I learned so much,” but actually believing it and feeling that deep down can be another story. Releasing is about getting to your true emotions and learning to actually let them go.

  1. Overcome Your Fears

This one especially is somewhat self-explanatory. Your fears are linked to emotions, insecurities, and the past. Releasing helps you get to the core of all this and let it go.

  1. Improve your Health

More and more scientific studies are showing the health benefits of meditation – ones like this one have even shown meditation to help stroke patients recover. Most people who’ve had much of any experience with releasing will attest to it being much more powerful than traditional meditation by itself. I healed much of a very difficult gut health issue through releasing.

Think about it: A negative relationship to stress is linked to all kinds of health risks, including death. Your emotional health affects your body – and your habits (how you eat, sleep, and deal with stress, just to name a few) – in numerous ways. Cleaning up your emotional health in general can be extremely good for your physical health, and you can also learn to specifically release on health issues like I did.

  1. Get Out of Your Head & Enjoy Life as It’s Happening More

Too many of us are living much of our daily lives in our heads, not really present in the moment. That’s ultimately because of unpleasant emotions that we’re going through, and/or that we’re numbing out and avoiding feeling.

Releasing gets you to face all that crap that’s between you and being present, let it go, and actually be deeply in the moment much more of the time.

When you start to experience what it’s like to be really present more often, it can shift your whole experience of daily life.

With these and so many other benefits of releasing emotions, it and other emotional awareness and energy work is built in to almost all the work and practices we do at FEARLESS. Learn More About Our Upcoming Releasing Workshops
